Hello All,
My mom suffered a moderate stroke while sleeping and woke Wednesday morning, November 6th having lost mobility and vision on her right side. The right side of her mouth was slack and she could not swallow well. She was unable to recall people and dates and was quite confused.  It was very difficult to lose 60% of her overnight.

However, that was 2 weeks ago. She has been receiving acute rehab at Marionjoy’s residential home since the 9th. Her progress has been positive. She can now swallow, speak and is more lucid and aware. Her right arm remains paralyzed but her right leg is slowly gaining strength. We are hopeful that, with a cane, she might be able to walk again.
Visitors are welcome during her lunchtime (1-2pm). She is in room #1170.

My mom will be at Marionjoy till Dec. 3rd. Her therapeutic team is trying to get the insurance to cover an additional 10 days so she can continue intensive therapy. Stay tuned. Thank you all for the cards, visits, flowers, meals, prayers and good thoughts. We are all so grateful! We will keep you posted.
