Mary was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in the beginning of August 2017. A few days into her hospital stay, she expressed the sincere wish to enter hospice care.  She has always been clear about her beliefs of limited medical intervention. In addition, she has experienced a huge loss of mobility and quality of life in the past 10-15 years after a life long struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. In Madison she had a rich life with reading and wonderful friends, but she couldn't do many of the things she loved. After an intense, profound, sad and beautiful week of many discussions  with friends, family and hospital staff, and of course with her active input, she moved to a Hospice residential facility in the Twin Cities yesterday, August 17th.
