Mary's journey started in September 2018 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. At the end of February 2019 after having completed two surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment, we discovered the cancer had metastasized to the surface of Mary's bones. Her treatment for this second round of cancer does not include surgery, traditional intravenous chemotherapy, or radiation. Instead the treatment regimen for the foreseeable future is centered around a few prescription drugs that are meant to halt any further spread of the cancer as well as an infrequent intravenous delivery of zoledronic acid to help protect and strengthen her bones. We'll continue to meet with Dr. Hussein, our excellent oncologist and all-around great guy, each month to monitor Mary's recovery and adjust the treatment plan when warranted.
We've been blessed with a fantastic group of caregivers here in Florida including the aforementioned Dr. Hussein, Dr. Kamath, Dr. Long and his exceptional PA Beverly Elmore, who has been a pillar of strength and a source of great guidance. We feel fortunate to be in the care of this great medical team. Finally, what can we say about George, Mary's husband. George has been at Mary's side and her primary caregiver throughout this entire journey. We'd be lost without him.
