Mary Lou Case

First post: Jan 13, 2022 Latest post: Feb 5, 2022
In October of 2021, after nine months of multiple hospitalizations and having a kidney removed, Mary Lou was diagnosed with terminal cancer which had started in the kidney and spread throughout her body.  During the October oncologist appointment, when pressed for a timeline, the oncologist said she likely had 2-3 months to live and recommended that she enter hospice care.  Mary Lou started hospice care that week.  Her desire is to stay in her own home.

Her cancer continues to progress.  Up until now, family, friends and hospice have been able to provide care for Mary Lou in her home.  In the last week, her condition has worsened and her energy, mobility and general health are declining.  She is at the point were she is now in need of 24/7 care as her cognitive abilities and independence decline.

Mary Lou is blessed with a long-term family friend, who has extensive experience in home hospice care.  As of this week, the friend and her family are providing 24/7 care along with hospice and family support.

Since October 23rd, Mary Lou’s prayer has been to finish life well as a Follower of Jesus.  Her prayer has been that she is able to model for friends and family, what the journey of going home to be with the Lord looks like.  Please pray for Mary Lou that she would have peace and comfort in her last days of life on this earth.

At this time, Mary Lou does not have the energy or ability to receive phone calls or have visitors.  If you want to reach out to Mary Lou, a note on Caring Bridge or a card would be wonderful.  Thanks for your love and support!  Mary Lou has the most WONDERFUL friends and family.
