Welcome to Mary's CaringBridge page. This journal has been created to have one centralized place, private place to keep our family and friends up-to-date during  Mary's surgery, and recovery. Surgery is scheduled for July 7th (in Indianapolis) - it is important for all of us to stay  connected.

Most of you visiting this site know Mary's story - in October 2016 Mary was diagnosed with "Soft Tissue Sarcoma".  A rare type of cancer. Sarcoma Cancers develop in any tissue that connect, support, or surround other structures & organs in the body.  When discovered the mass was large in size and covered most of the left lung.

The doctors at Lutheran( after consulting with Mayo Clinic) referred Mary to IU Health in Indianapolis.  Dr. Rushing developed a chemotherapy regimen that Mary has followed for 6 months. We were grateful that she was able to receive those treatments in Fort Wayne.  Sarcoma responds very slowly to chemotherapy - the goal was to keep the cancer from spreading and to soften/shrink in preparation for surgery.

Mary has fought her battle with courage and grace. She continues to amaze the doctors at IU Health with her physical strength as well. We call her our "Miracle Mary"...

Our family draws our strength from each and everyone of you- thank you for your support and love.

Please feel free to post a message to Mary and family.
