Welcome to our CaringBridge website.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.   On October 12, 2021, Mary had a CT scan because she had been having trouble with her speech for about a month.  We thought it was possible mini-stroke.  The following day she went for a MRI, which revealed a malignant mass on the left pariental lobe of her brain.  We are grateful to her local doctor's office for pushing through a referral quickly.  The following Monday (10/18) we were called to be at Duke the next day at 8 am for consult.  One week later on Monday, 10/25/21, Mary underwent surgery at Duke with Dr. Allen Friedman and his amazing surgical team.   Following surgery, Mary spent several weeks in rehab in Myrtle Beach.  Within 2 weeks, Mary went from symptoms, to diagnosis, to brain surgery.  Life changes quickly. Please continuing sending up your prayers for Mary, Wayne, Mardy, Pam and the entire family.  We will use this site to provide updates. NOTE:  We are grateful to friends who have set up a Meal Train link for meals and gift cards (for gas to treatments, hotel stay at hospital, etc) for the family.  We aren't even home yet and her village is rallying around her! https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/07o799
