Last week, Dr. Mousakis, from the University of Minnesota diagnosed me with ALS sometimes known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.  I began to notice some issues with my swallowing and speaking in January 2020. As my speech didn’t seem to improve I went to see Dr. Taube at Edina Sports Health and Wellness Clinic.  At that time Dr. Taube suggested we do a brain scan and she then determined I may of had a concussion and/or possibly ALS. I was working at the time and decided I needed to address my health issues and resigned.  Dr. Kim suggested we get a second opinion from a neurologist at the University of Minnesota. He concurred with Dr. Taube that in fact I did have ALS.

Going forward; currently all ALS research and trials are on hold because the COVID pandemic but I hope to be a part of a Gene and Mapping Study (UM) and a Stem Cell Study (Mayo) as soon as things open up. However I am receiving Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy once a week virtually through Anywhere Care.

I will keep you updated on the studies as I learn more about them.
