Marybeth Herald

Welcome to our new CaringBridge website.  We hope to use it to keep our family and friends updated.

Since learning of her cancer in early August, MB and I have been moved by your messages of love, care and support. You have lifted our spirits and given us strength to continue fighting. We’re grateful to all of you.

We wish we could visit and thank you individually, and we hope that soon will be possible.  Until then, maybe this website can help us stay connected.  (Click "Read More" to view the rest of the story.)

We plan to use the Journal for periodic updates. It may require some clicking, but the Journal entries should open for easy reading.  We’ve added some links to some Journal entries for anyone seeking further information.

The Journal entries don’t cover some basic questions though, so we’ll address them here.

1.    How is Marybeth feeling?

Marybeth is grateful that she is feeling much better than she was in mid-August - September.  At that time MB was nearly immobilized by severe back pain.  As of November – December, MB is free of the back pain and enjoying daily short walks around the neighborhood. Fatigue, however, is a constant, and it requires a lot of resting.  Sadly, it saps MB of the strength needed to visit with family and friends.

2.    How can we help?

We’re grateful for your offers to help, whether by care packages, favorite foods & treats, flowers, dog-walking, errands, care-giving, cooking, cleaning, research, or other means.   There may be a time when we need that assistance, but our needs are well met at this time.  Your love, care, and support already have helped us so much.

3.    How about our privacy?

We respect your privacy.  This site is private and ad-free.  It’s accessible only by those whose email addresses we have authorized.

CaringBridge is run by a nonprofit that requests donations, but - rest assured - we have donated to CaringBridge to fully support the site.  We do not want or expect you to donate in Marybeth’s name!  This site is NOT about funding CaringBridge or anyone or anything else.

Finally, if you find you are receiving more notifications than you desire, you can manage or suspend them at the notifications section -  https://www.caringbridge.org/notifications

Again, we appreciate your support and messages of hope and encouragement.

With love,

 -  Joel & Marybeth
