Welcome to Marti Batchelder's "Celebration of Life" of website! This site is for Marti's friends, family and relatives to share stories and memories about the the times they spent with her. This site was created by her children - Abigail Cotton and Nathan Batchelder. As many of you know, Marti passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021. She gave her children the gift of being able to say goodbye to her during her final days in this world. We are very thankful for the love and affection she gave to us as she departed from our lives.
Marti will be remembered as a brave, kind, smart, devoted and gentle-hearted woman who dedicated her life to helping and supporting those around her. Marti joined the Peace Corps as a young, bright-eyed kid from Colorado Springs who helped empower Afghani women by teaching them English during the 60s. She spent her forty year career as an LCSW helping families of all walks of life. And she did an excellent job raising two kids with her beloved husband John, who passed just over 4 years ago. She loved playing her guitar, singing to her grand babies, and speaking Farsi to anyone who would listen. She was courageous and determined with everything she accomplished in her life. Our mother spent her whole life loving and caring for others. Her generous spirit, warm smile, and "glass-always-half-full" approach to life will always stay with us forever.
