On Friday, August 25, 2017 Martha suffered a TIA (transient ischemic attack) caused by a temporary clot in her brain.  After receiving the Tissue plasminogen activator (TPA) shot to breakdown the blood clot at a local hospital Martha was air lifted to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital (WFBH) in Winston-Salem.  During the flight, Martha suffered a heart attack from another clot located near her heart.  After a week in the Neurosciences ICU at WFBH Martha was released to an inpatient acute rehabilitation facility for 32 days on intense therapy.  Martha's journey to recovery continues as she returns home and begins outpatient rehabilitation therapy.
