I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October of 2015. In early 2016 I had surgery to remove my prostate. In late 2016 I had 40 fractions of radiation on the surgical site and some suspect lymph nodes. My PSA never really got under control. In January of 2018 I went to Phoenix, AZ for a specialized bone scan. Unfortunately, it had moved into my spine and my ribs. I was placed on a medication (Xtandi) that worked well. Kept my PSA relatively low. But then I had a stroke. Suspect was the Xtandi, so I had to come off of that. After recovery from the stroke, they started me on chemotherapy. I did that for about a year…another stroke. After recovery from that we started another round of chemotherapy (different medication). Then one day I couldn’t keep food or water or anything down. I went to the hospital. After a lot of testing, where they didn’t find anything, they did an MRI. They found cancerous lesions in my brain. I’ve had two weeks of radiation therapy and now I just wait. 2 months for radiation to do its thing.
