Marsha Jones Strong Like Nana

Our beloved Nana (Marsha) has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Always the life of every party and family gathering, Marsha was surprised to learn the details of what's been causing her discomfort...cancer! When she started noticing she had less appetite, more indigestion and a bloated feeling, she went to see her doctor in early November.  After ruling out some other things, Marsha went for a CT scan on Wednesday, December 15. The results were heartbreaking for Marsha and Jim, who celebrated 55 years of marriage in June.  A large mass was found in her pancreas, and several other suspicious lesions were detected on her liver.  Marsha went for a Biopsy on Tuesday, January 4 and on that Friday (January 7) she and Jim got her official diagnosis. She has Pancreatic Cancer that has spread to her liver or Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. It is inoperable; her only treatment is chemotherapy.  Your prayers for comfort and healing are very appreciated.

Her diagnosis has been a shock to her immediate family.  We enjoyed some special time together over Thanksgiving, Christmas and her birthday. We knew she wasn't feeling that great then, but we didn't realize she was so sick. The strongest woman we know had on her brave face and her "big girl pants." Since the holidays her pain and discomfort has increased tremendously, and Jim is taking on the role of loving caregiver.  Marsha's strong and determined; she's ready to fight this fight. She starts her Chemotherapy on Tuesday, January 18.

We'll use this website to keep you updated during Marsha's cancer journey. We hope that you'll interact with us here, by sharing your support and words of hope and encouragement. Many of you have asked how you can help, and we're in the process of setting up a meal train. Stay tuned for more information on that. Thanks so much for your prayers, and for loving and supporting Marsha and Jim.  #stronglikenana
