Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Marlene was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer on November 19, 2018, during a visit to the ER for breathing problems (the pleural cavity around her right lung had filled with fluid causing her to feel as if suffocating). The cancer had spread to her left femur causing concern with the Oncologist that the bone might break during cancer treatment. On December 28th, Marlene had a partial hip replacement surgery performed at the Univ. of Minn. hospital. A few days after surgery, they started treatment of the cancer with a regiment of Faslodex injections and Ibrance pills. The prognosis looked good and the tumors began noticeably shrinking within a couple of weeks. At the 6 month interval (June 24th), they did a CT scan and found that a tumor on her liver was not responding to the Ibrance treatment, so we are moving on to a treatment utilizing IV injections of Taxol on a weekly basis starting Monday, July 1st.
