Just prior to Christmas, Marlayne went to the doctor to check out chest pain which led to a whole series of medical tests at Fairview Southdale Hospital & Mayo Clinic. The result was the diagnosis of a second cancer – ovarian. Recommended was nine weeks of two forms of chemotherapy, then surgery followed by an another nine weeks of chemotherapy. We are grateful that Marlayne’s tests have revealed her multiple myeloma is stable. The focus is now on ovarian cancer.
The number of weeks of chemo has been reduced due to Marlayne’s slow ability to rebound following her chemo infusions. The present plan to have a hysterectomy on April 13 @ Methodist Hospital. Hospitalization is expected to be 2-4 days remaining in Rochester, MN for probably another 2 days.
