About 2 weeks ago, my life took a very unexpected turn. The story actually begins with my mid-August knee surgery.  I ran a fever in the hospital, so they did a lung xray to check for pneumonia. The xray showed an area of concern, but the doctor said it looked like beginning pneumonia, and she would have a follow-up xray done in Oct. during a routine physical.  At the physical, the xray was not mentioned, so I asked if I still needed it - and they did set one up that day just to check.  I heard nothing for the next week, so assumed everything was fine. Then I got a call to come in for a CT scan and pulmonary test.  A couple hours after those tests, I was called to come in to the clinic to discuss the results.  At that point, I figured all was not well, and found out that day that they were concerned about lung cancer that was also affecting nearby lymph nodes..  A lung biopsy a week later confirmed this diagnosis.
