Family and Friends of Mark Shultz and sons-Nathan & Dylan-

As some of you may or may not know, Mark has been hospitalized at Mayo in Rochester, MN- Saint Mary's Hospital since early Friday, January 5th.  Headaches and difficulty finding words were symptoms that brought Mark in which began in just over the past few weeks.  An MRI discovered a mass in the left side of Mark's brain.  The left side of the brain controls language and speech.  Thus the reason Mark is having the symptoms that he is having.  The neurological surgical team is uncertain of what the mass truly is.  Mark has decided to go ahead with surgery today, Tuesday, January 9th for removal of the mass.  The surgeon will attempt to remove as much of the mass as safely possible without impairing any of his current abilities.  The pathology will determine his course of treatment after surgery.  We currently are waiting with Mark as he awaits to be called for surgery later this morning.

Mark's family has enjoyed spending these past several days with Mark, Nathan & Dylan talking about past  fun memories and listening to the boys play on the baby grand piano in the hospital lobby.  The boys are amazing musicians that make us all proud!!

We appreciate everyone's prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement for Mark and the boys.  This Caring Bridge page will help us to keep you updated.
