On September 25, Mark suffered a seizure out of the blue while at work in Milwaukee. He was taken to the local hospital for tests. They immediately located a mass in his brain and sent him via ambulance to Rush Hospital in Chicago for further testing. On September 29, he had a brain biopsy surgery. He made it through the surgery and recovery like a champ! He was released the next afternoon! The biopsy was sent out for pathology testing and his result was a cancerous brain tumor.
We met with the cancer "teams" at Rush and at Northwestern. Ultimately, we decided to go with Northwestern. Mark was scheduled for surgery to remove part of the tumor on October, 12. Once again he came through surgery like a champ and the surgeon was able to remove part of the tumor as planned. Mark will hopefully be released from the hospital on the 14th or 15th. He will begin the next step of treatment with 6 weeks of radiation and chemo treatments beginning October 23.
We are so blessed to have such supportive families and friends! Your love, positive thoughts, prayers and support have and will continue to help Mark and our family through this.
