Mark has been battling ulcerative colitis for over a decade now. On Thursday, August 4, 2016, Mark was under the impression he was in the midst of an ulcerative colitis flare up. As the day went on he realized it felt differently. After coming home from work and resting awhile we made the decision to go to Bryn Mawr Hospital's ER.  After determining that Mark had a blood infection and Cdiff the catscan came back showing a mass on his colon and lesions on his liver. Mark was admitted to the hospital that night. During his hospital stay a liver biopsy was done that came back showing cancer cells. After receiving antibiotics for the blood infection and Cdiff, Mark was able to leave the hospital on Monday, August 8th. The news of the cancer completely blindsided us and although there was relief in knowing that he was going home we knew there was a long road set before us .
