Mark Sachs Mark's Journey

First post: Jan 23, 2020 Latest post: May 27, 2021
Hello all,

It is with great sadness that we have to start this.  On Jan 22, 2020 , Mark was diagnosed with a large cancerous brain tumor in his parietal lobe of his brain, a glioblastoma per the doctor at Neuroscience Group. His symptoms showed themselves as confusion and lack of concentration.  I noticed it two Sundays ago when we went to the Packer game. He had no idea where we parked, didn't know where we were, or even parking the vehicle. Mark has become increasingly forgetful over the years so I wrote it off as just being "Mark".  These symptoms progressed throughout the week and weekend when Mark was up north fishing with his fishing group from work.  He had multiple problems up there, which resulted in him coming home a day early.  The days following became more confusing, where he could not do simple tasks at work. Couldn't recall how to type, etc. Felt like his brain was in a fog.  Cognitive abilities were diminishing.  He finally admitted to me that he was feeling strange. Jan 22, we started with the family doctor who ordered blood tests and a CT.  The CT scan showed a large tumor. An MRI followed and then a meeting with the surgeon. The tumor is aggressive and is the size of an egg.  Surgery is scheduled for Friday, Jan 24, at 2:30 pm at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Following surgery he will need to go through a series of radiation and chemotherapy.  Please pray for him as he starts this journey.  Thanks, Gwen
