Hi everyone. I’ve been diagnosed with a Grade 4 arteriovenous malformation (AVM) (http://weillcornellbrainandspine.org/condition/arteriovenous-malformation-avm
) - essentially, a tangle of enlarged blood vessels in my brain. I've been undergoing testing and procedures, and am meeting with doctors and considering options for radiation (hopefully nothing more serious, at this point). Really appreciate all your support!
Here's some ways you can help, especially while I'll be overnight in the hospital from Aug. 22-25. (BUT NOTE: If you work in the immigration field outside the federal government, e.g. you have cases in immigration court, I have to ask you not to donate/walk the dog, because I'm generally prohibited under federal ethics rules from accepting gifts from people with business before my agency):
- AMTRAK GIFTS/POINTS: I'm traveling on Amtrak to hospitals at UVA (Charlottesville, VA) and Cornell (New York City). Gift cards or points donations would be great! You can donate travel gift cards here - https://www.amtrak.com/giftcards
- and donate Amtrak points here - https://www.amtrakguestrewards.com/points.
- DOG WALKING: Do you want to walk Mamie, my sweet rescue dog from Puerto Rico? (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/marknoferi/photos/view/id/5ab7a0038cab9c17648b456c
) OF COURSE YOU DO. HOW COULD YOU RESIST THAT FACE. Volunteers would be awesome! Visit here to sign up for a dogwalking shift: (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/marknoferi/planner
) Or volunteers to stay over with her while I visit hospitals for testing/appointments would be great.
- RIDES TO APPOINTMENTS: I'll keep you posted as they come up. Check here for updates: (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/marknoferi/planner
