Our Dad is one of the most faithful, selfless, thoughtful, and enthusiastic people we know.  There are so many of you who have been praying for him throughout his journey with throat cancer. For those of you who don't know our Dad, Mark, found a lump in his throat last spring and the biopsy came back that it was cancer.  He went through intense radiation and chemotherapy treatment this summer.  The road through that treatment was very hard on him physically and mentally.  He ended treatment in August looking forward to regaining his strength, independence and his "Get with it" attitude.  We were all excited to see him enjoy the things he loves again with no pain or restrictions.

Unfortunately, November came and he started to have trouble swallowing and feeling sick again.  Right after Thanksgiving, doctors diagnosed him again with Stage 3 throat cancer.  This time is it located in his voice box.  Doctors reported that this is unheard of when it comes to this type of cancer.  Our family and our Dad were devastated to hear the news.  He is scheduled to have surgery on January 10 to remove the cancer but doctors will also need to remove his voice box and part of his throat as well.  He will have a permanent trachea tube and will be unable to talk for up to 6 months.  At that 6 month mark, we are hoping he can get a prosthesis to enable him to talk. This is going to be a very tough road for him.

How you can help:
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!  Your prayers are being heard and we would love for you to continue them.  Feel free to send him letters, emails, and texts to help keep his spirits high.  He has loved receiving mail and enjoyed hearing about your favorite times and memories with him.  If you need his address, number, or email please reach out to me and I'll share it with you. We will be using this to update friends and family on everything.  Thanks for all your support, prayers, and love and please keep them coming!

Love, Maureen, Janelle (Doug), Mark (Ashley), Colleen (Clay), LeighAnne (Andrew), Andrew (Danielle), Mike (Ashley), Tom (Taylor), and all the 17 Grandkids :)
