Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. On December 7, 2020, Mark went to the doctor for his yearly check up. During the prostrate exam the doctor found something he didnt like. He referred Mark to a surgeon. Mark met Dr. Hart on Dec 15 and she ordered a colonoscopy. So Dec 18 he had the scope, and she took many biopsies. On Monday, December 21 she called with the results...CANCER. She ordered a CT scan and a MRI. He had the CT scan Jan 7, and the MRI on Jan 16. on the 21st, we met with Dr. Hart. She told us the the cancer had not metastasized but was in the lymph nodes in the muscles surrounding the colon. Game plan is 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, followed by 6-8 weeks of rest. After that she will do surgery and remove a foot of large intestine as well as all the muscles in that area. With the muscles gone and no way to push food through, she will then hook the colon to a hole she will create in his belly leaving him with a permanent colostomy. After healing from surgery they will hit him hard with chemo. She said this whole process will probably take a year. We meet with the oncologist on Monday, Feb 1 and Radiation dr on Feb 3. I think things will go quickly then, once we have met with each of them. I will post any news we get. I think this will be an easier way to update friends and family, however you are always welcome to call me. Thanks for all the love, support and prayers. Lesley and Mark ❤❤❤❤
