Mark Lewis

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On November 17th Mark and a friend were returning on a flight from Charleston when they crashed on landing. Mark was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he has been receiving excellent care in the Trauma ICU. His most significant injuries are multiple fractures to his ribs, scapula, back, and sternum along with a concussion. There is no spinal cord injury and he is moving all extremities but due to the concussion, pain medicine, and a bout of pneumonia he is very confused and is not able to communicate well.

Everyone who takes care of him comments on his strength of both body and will. He has made it through requiring a tracheostomy, a chest tube to remove blood from around his lungs, as well as a brief episode of kidney injury. So what does someone with all of that going on end up doing today? Getting out of bed to a chair of course! His nursing and physical therapy team placed him in a special chair to keep his postural muscles strong and prevent some of the complications of being in the ICU. They just don't make them like Mark anymore.

We are so blessed and truly grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and encouragement we have been shown by all of Mark's friends. Thank you for loving us and being on this journey with us. We know God has a purpose for everything. Maybe you think of Mark and you give your spouse an extra hug. Maybe you speak a little kinder to your neighbor tomorrow. Maybe you think about all the people in your life who have  touched your heart and who you care about and you strengthen those connections. We might not know what He has in store for us, but we sure know we are all in it together.
