"When someone has cancer, the whole family and everyone who loves her does too."
In the beginning of June, Marisa was having a wonderful weekend getting her garden together as her heart was full after her son's recent birthday celebration. The next day she noticed she was having some pain in her back, so she decided to go to the doctor to get it checked out. The doctor thought it could be diverticulitis and sent Marisa to a get a CT scan that day. Before she even got home, the doctor called her to let her know they found a mass on her kidney. Marisa is now facing the battle of kidney cancer.
They have done a biopsy on her kidney and found out that she has a Wilms tumor. This is rare in adults as it's considered a children's cancer. She is starting the grueling process of chemotherapy and then will have surgery for her kidney to be removed. It's then onto radiation and another round of chemo. Marisa needs as much love and support as she walks through this storm.
It is time to rally the troops! If you can help in anyway, please follow the links below. She looking for house care, animal care and maybe some playdates for Ian. At this point, she would really appreciate any gift cards to Whole Foods or gas cards as she will be driving to the city frequently. The link to donate from this site is to Caring Bridge and will not go to benefit Marisa. She is unsure how she will be feeling as she is walking on new ground. So please be patient if she needs to cancel a day. Also, you have to be 100% healthy when being around her as any germs can compromise her health. Thank you all for surrounding her with so much love and light.
