Let me start out by saying we in no way meant to exclude any of you regarding Mom's health.  Her recent surgery was suppose to be a 3-4 day hospital stay that developed into much more.
November 25th,  Mom started experiencing stomach pain.  She asked Wendy to drive her to the ER in New London around midnight.  From there, she was transported by ambulance to AMC (also now known as Theda Care Appleton)  She called me at 6:45 am on the 26th and said she was having surgery at 7:30.  (she didn't want to wake me by calling any
earlier...seriously)  The Dr. operated for twisted intestines and also removed her appendix.  He told us it would be a 3-4 day hospital stay, possibly up to 1 week.  The next morning she had no feeling in her right hand.  The Dr. did a cat scan to check for a possible stroke, but found a large cyst on her thyroid instead.  Biopsy results are still pending.  Still having stomach pain, they discovered a bowel obstruction and inserted a tube down her nose, into her stomach. (gross)  The day after doing that, she had severe heart issues and was transferred to ICU.  They got that under control and put a C-pap mask on to help her breathe.  (she did not like the mask)  After a few days of ICU, they transferred her back to a regular room.  To try and make a long story short, she developed pneumonia, blood clots in her lungs and an infection.  That takes us to the day 17 post.
