Welcome to Marilyn's CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. In February 2016, Marilyn was diagnosed with non small cell adenocarcinoma (lung cancer)--when a large mass was found in the upper lobe of her left lung. She has undergone 3 cycles of chemotherapy, responded well to that--but then in July,  a CT Scan showed that the cancer had spread in her left lung, and possibly into her right lung as well. On Wednesday morning, August 10th, Marilyn will check in at Tufts Medical Center in Boston where she will have a biopsy on her right lung. If it is determined that the masses in her right lung are not cancer (might be infection), the surgeon will proceed with a lobectomy on her left lung--and will remove the  top lobe of the left lung and all of the cancer therein. If all goes well with this, there is a very good chance of getting her cancer free! If the biopsy on the right lung finds cancer there, then they won't proceed with surgery and Marilyn will go into cancer-management-mode, with  a planned course of chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Marilyn is tough, and she has an amazing community of loving family and friends. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most. Together, we will carry her through this!
