Mariana Vargas Milne

So its a month before my birth day and a fortnight before my surgery.
I have decided to have a left breast mastectomy, so now glad that i had more time to think and further tests done or i would have had only a triple lumpectomy last Tuesday. I met the radiologist who ordered these last two biopsies (and did them herself) last Thursday, and she is really  looking for a needle in a haystack, looking for any more cancer in that i have decided to let it go to an early grave.  Not the first, not the last.
I have been taking Tamoxifen for a few days, it is hormone therapy to slow down tumour growth, but have to stop tomorrow as not safe before surgery. We are at a crossroads at this stage we can't tell if we are about to get a whole lot better or if by treatment we can only delay what was to come. One day at a time.
My surgery will be in the kids' school holidays, which will work well, as Nico will be around to help me and we can stay near the hospital before and after the surgery.
Big hugs to you all, my family xxxooo
