The origin of our current battle is the fact that Maria Elena was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer a number years ago. There are few arrows in the quiver for fighting stage three and treatment options are limited. We used the highest strength chemo, followed by radiation.
The medical team also advised a regimen of tamoxifen for five years following the completion of radiation.
Due in large part to the aggressive treatments implemented, we are now dealing with the resulting side effects including end stage liver failure.
Maria Elena has an upbeat attitude and we as a team, family , friends and co workers are fighting right along with her.
