Hello Family and friends.
Many of you know Margaret had ovarian cancer in 2014 and took six chemotherapy treatments 3 weeks apart, After that she was cancer-free for almost a year but the cancer returned this year, and she started chemo again this last few months. After 4 chemos the indicator test for cancer was going down each time. But on her 5th chemo 15th of Sept, she was given a new drug in conjunction with one she previously had but she had different side effects and her kidneys have been damaged. She is now in renal failure. She called 911 and admitted to St.Johns hospital on Sept 21st. The doctor only gave her about 2-3 weeks to live (we know only God really knows). Margaret, Mary Kay and I had a conference with the doctor, he thought it would be better to have quality of life then for her to have to go through dialysis which would not give her any more time and is hard. She had decided to enter the Palliative care program and then be comfortable and enjoy her remaining days at the Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale Minnesota. Last Saturday September 24th she was admitted. A very lovely place where she is treated like a queen. She deserves it, 'she worked hard for her money', she should be comfortable, and is paying herself!! She was doing quite fine when she entered and was up and around enjoying family and friends, probably partying a bit too much!!
I know she loves everybody, she is a very accommodating and kind to friends and family and she loves to see them, but be careful not to overdo it. Tell her how you feel, in person, card or by Caring bridge. I know she enjoys seeing or hearing from her special friends.
Leave messages for her and we will be reading them to her. Thank you for your love, prayers and support for Margaret, she surely feels it and appreciates them all. Her Sister Kari
