Margaret DeHarpporte

Margaret is currently at the Fairview Acute Rehabilitation Center, room 511. Her journey began with a night in the ER, and has brought her through the Neuroscience Unit to the Rehabilitation Center. Currently she is participating in a rigorous OT, PT, and Speech Therapy routine with an expected stay duration of around 1 month.

What we know is that Margaret's brain is inflamed, which is causing her symptoms.  We know that her symptoms respond positively to steroids, which points to the inflammation. However, we do not know why all of this is occurring. It may be an autoimmune response, but we don't know what is causing it to go into overdrive. There are still two outstanding tests from her lumbar puncture which have yet to come back that may provide the answers we are looking for.

Margaret's spirit is up, her wit is as sharp as always, and we all believe that she can and will make a full recovery. She would love visitors, especially if they come bearing some good snacks (dried fruit, low-sodium nuts and crackers, chocolate, popcorn, etc...)! The best times to visit are during her lunch break between 11:30am - 1:30pm and after her final therapy session of the day, between 3:30pm - 8:30pm.  You can reach her at 612-273-8260. She has periodic access to email, so don't hesitate to send her a note or a photo to brighten her day!
