UPDATED: Marco was diagnosed with leukemia back in Nov. 2016—the ALL version called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia—which has a successful cure rate.
On February 2020, he was going to end his chemo maintenance, but in October 2019, leukemia reappeared.
Thankfully, It is isolated in the spinal chord. They found over 100 WBC immature (white blood cells) in the LP (lumbar puncture). On Nov. 18th, another LP was done and only 1 normal WBC (white blood cell) was found! We are supposed to have less than 5.
So far, he is in “remission” meaning the treatment is working. The new plan will take one full year of intensive treatment, then radiation followed by maintenance until November of 2021.
