Marco has been diagnosed with leukemia, the ALL version called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which has a success cure rate. He is upbeat and his mind is set to leave the hospital by next weekend. On Monday he will have a mediport placed in his chest for easy access to his blood vessel and heart for the medicine; another bone marrow biopsy and a spinal tap. They will also add a tsp. of chemo in his spinal chord to protect his brain from the leukemia cells. By Tuesday he will be receiving chemotherapy. The Induction stage will be about 5 weeks to reduce those cells rapidly. The following 6 weeks will be consolidation, interim maintenance, delayed intensification (like induction) then maintenance. So we will be coming over every Tuesday to get a dose of medicine. I have described it a PacMan (medicine) killing all the ghosts (leukemia cells).
