Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place as we both have a vast network of family and friends. This site will allow us to focus on rest and recovery while ensuring that everyone is receiving updates as well as tips on how to help. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Initially this site will be managed by our daughter Stephanie, AKA The Warden. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. please comment here, and Stephanie will reach out to you at her earliest convenience.
Kathleen was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma in April 2011. Shortly thereafter she had a complete hysterectomy to remove the mass and was in remission for approximately a year and a half. The cancer then metastasized to both lungs and her right adrenal gland - the cancer has been graded as Stage 4. Kathleen is currently taking palliative chemotherapy with the hope of preventing the tumors from growing any larger, and the focus of treatment is pain management.
Marc was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in November 2016. He has undergone chemotherapy and radiation to shrink the tumor, thus allowing his treatment team to perform surgery to remove the mass - the cancer has been graded as Stage 2B. On May 31, 2017 Marc underwent the Whipple procedure at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. The team of surgeons removed his pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, and 1/3 of his stomach. As a result of the surgery Marc is now a Type I Diabetic. The focus of his treatment is now rest, recovery, and Diabetes management.
