Thanks for the calls and inquiries about my mom's health.  Marcia was admitted to St. Luke's in Duluth, one week ago for exploratory surgery of the abdomen. They found infection caused by a mesh medical device used in a previous operation. They removed it and cleaned the infection. She was put in ICU with a breathing apparatus to help her. Instead of an immediate road to recovery, she got increasingly sick. She's had several complications and remains in the hospital on the breathing tube and assisted by medicine.  The kidneys are the real fear now.  She has just one (since birth) and it is not flushing toxins out.  They are considering dialysis to see if that helps.  Other complications with blood pressure makes this a tougher decision than normal. Her medical team remains hopeful. They've seen many cases of recovery from complicated and complex medical histories.  We remain very hopeful. I flew in Wednesday night and my sister, Denise, flies in Saturday. Michael has been here everyday. It's hard on everyone's heart. My mom is young and vital and we pray for a recovery and  years of of laughter still.  She's had lots of friends inquiring and we are very grateful. PLEASE SAY A PRAYER.   That is all we need.  If anyone needs to reach Denise, her number is 218-428-9000.   My number, Laurie, is 919-259-1658.  We are staying at her apartment in Superior. She is at St Lukes, fifth floor ICU.
