On Thursday, November 2nd my mom underwent reconstructive jaw surgery with Dr. Gunson in Santa Barbara, CA. The surgery realigned both her upper and lower jaw in order to create more space for her teeth and overall health. Prior to surgery - as a result of a having a jaw that never fully formed correctly - her teeth were severely crowded, cracking and breaking down. In one instance, a molar even rotated 360 degrees from the crowded space. We want to thank her incredible team of doctors that have supported preparation for this surgery – Dr. ‘Dara’ Chira, an orthodonist in VT, Dr. Mac, a dentist in NYC, and Dr. Gunson, a jaw surgeon in Santa Barbara, CA. In addition to several months of recovery from surgery, she still has a year ahead of her with braces to complete the process of realigning her jaw. This journey has no doubt been possibly the hardest WOD and longest marathon she has ever endured. But she is 'Wonder BeeBee' and will finish stronger than ever!!
