Mara is a happy and spunky girl who just turn 4 the end of October. Her teacher and an associate noticed mid October that her head tilted to the left. I mentioned to her pediatrician at a well visit in November. A vision test was suggested and an appointment made. In the meantime, Mara began to throw up; typically only once in the morning. It began sporadically but no one else in the house was getting ill. The week of Thanksgiving it happened every other morning on Tuesday and Thursday. On Monday i called the pediatrician and was able to get her an appointment; she had now thrown up 3 mornings in a row. He suggested a CT which was scheduled for Wednesday. Before leaving the hospital after the CT, i received a call from the pediatrician s office stating that a mass had been found and we were to go upstairs to the clinic. There they showed me a large mass inside of her brain. I had to choose which hospital they would be transporting her to. We were not able to go home but were taken by ambulance to the university of iowa childrens hospital.
