My story? Well we all have stories don't we? My story is to be blessed by a battalion of wonderful friends who I pray will be there till the end of my life.
For those who don't know, this recent visit to the hospital was just to make sure the nurses and doctors were doing their job appropriately. See, I'm a mole reporting the bad apples to the AMA.
I believe I convinced them I was a genuine patient because I had spinal surgery to remove pressure on a nerve in my spinal canal. This was even more convincing to doctors and nurses because the surgery was right at the site of my metastatic tumor at the base of my spine, making a serious procedure a touch more dicey. I believe I found a great neurosurgeon because the others I interviewed with wanted to do something much more invasive that would have kept me in the hospital for two weeks, with a one year recovery time.
For my dear friends who might, in the future, be interested in being hospital moles, I recommend some other less invasive modality - go in with a head cold or pretend you're having a nightmare. Believe it or not, my roommate at the hospital summoned the nurses to his bedside one night because he was having a nightmare. The guy is a 58-year-old dentist!
