Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Malachi was born without an iliac vein in his right groin and he also has May-Thurners Syndrome. He has had swelling and pain and less than adequate blood supply causing him to use a wheelchair. Many procedures have been done and some gave small relief and improvement but never lasting. In June he had a vascular reconstructive surgery done. They harvested his right jugular vein and placed it where the iliac vein was missing. The grafted vein clotted and the attempt was made to break up the clot. During that PICU stay he was intubated and following an unfortunate series of events he had to remain on the vent for 7 days.  His body is still struggling to regain strength and health. As well he has Hypogammaglobulinemia that now requires regular infusions. Malachi is one tough fighter!
We are hopeful that Malachi's vascular mess can be unmessified. We know that he has the greatest team of doctors that genuinely care about the whole him. This is not a fun journey, nonetheless it is the one we are on right now. We welcome your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes for Malachi.
