Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Maggie traveled to Switzerland in early October for a complete physical including a colonoscopy. On October 3, she was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Colon Cancer Stage IV that has metastasized into her bladder and lymph nodes. The good news is her cancer did not metastasize into her liver or lungs. On October 4, her surgical team removed everything that was visibly cancerous. Due to all the internal stitches, it will be quite some time before she can comfortably move around.  The doctor said that, barring any complications, she will stay in the hospital for a few weeks and then go to her sister Ruth’s home to recuperate, which is fortunately a mile away from the hospital. Her sister is an anesthesia nurse practicing at Thun Switzerland Hospital where Maggie is currently residing. Maggie is very appreciative that her sister Ruth, is making sure she is very well taken care of by the nurses and doctors. The staff at the hospital is amazing, as there is always someone entering her room to check on her vitals, IV’s, and to bathe her.

Her oncologist, Dr. Luthi, stated that if everything goes well, Maggie will be able to undergo chemotherapy and other treatments by early December. The good news is the chemo treatments that are necessary for her recovery are available in the States, so she can come back here for her follow-up procedures.  She is very happy to know that she’ll be home soon with her family, friends and sweet dogs, Angel and Laika.

Gary, Denise and Joani have created a care page on Caring Bridge website www.caringbridge.org/visit/maggiebobileff (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/maggiebobileff)  for friends and family to send Maggie words of encouragement and love. Please use this website to send her inspirational messages or you can send a card to her sister’s home at Maggie Bobileff c/o  Ruth Enzler  Ortbuhlweg 64  3612 Steffisburg, Switzerland.

We would like to thank all of you for your prayers, and comforting support and love of Maggie. We all adore Maggie and look forward to her return to San Diego where we can spoil her! May God’s love surround Maggie throughout her recovery, giving her hope and strength today and always.
