we were excited to have another baby on the way, due date being Feb 13. at my 20 week ultrasound, we wanted to find out what the gender of our baby was to be. and it was a girl! but they had also found something else that didn’t look right. they told us that she has Gastroschisis. which means that her small bowel (intestines) are outside of her tummy. (they told us that this condition is becoming more common, and they don’t have a known cause) so my OB dr. referred me to a specialist in Little Rock. i went for an ultrasound every month. then set up with a new OB dr up here at UAMS hospital. they did the ultrasound just to make sure the bowel wasn’t becoming enlarged or obstructed. and to check her measurements for growth. (because these babies tend to be smaller & not grow like they should especially towards full term) but every one i had they said she looked good, was growing good and they were happy. they also told us these babies tend to come early on their own, but they didn’t want me to go past 37 weeks, because the fatality rate goes up. (they die on their own & they don’t know why) so i was scheduled for an induction on the 23rd of Jan.
but little miss Madison had different plans! she couldn’t wait that long!
