Hello Friends and Family,

This website will help us share information with all of you and share Mom's journey following open heart surgery.

As you may know, our Mother, Madie is known to us as the “energizer bunny” and could work circles around many and most. We love and adore all of her special qualities and her zest for life.This past spring she went to her family physician to have her shoulder evaluated and it was discovered that she was in Atrial Fibrillation, which is not uncommon and also had developed issues with the mitral valve in her heart. The combination of these issues results in shortness of breath, fatigue and the inability for Mom to be as active as she desires.  Over the past 10 days her condition changed significantly and really began to affect her quality of life.  We spent three days this week seeking the opinions of the cardiologist, a cardiac surgeon, a pulmonary doctor and after many many diagnostic tests it was determined that she needed to have the mitral valve replaced.  We are currently at Sacred Heart Hospital while she is undergoing open heart surgery which can be a very lengthy procedure. We have been totally pleased with the quality of care and the compassion and kindness that the staff has provided to Mom and the family. Her concerns have been addressed thoroughly and she has requested that we "take care of Dad."  We told her that she needs to recover quickly so can resume her job as awesome wife, mother, grandma and great grandma.
