Baby Madeline made her way into the world on May 26th at 4:07am, just a couple weeks before we expected. When Madeline was just 20 weeks old, we found out on our anatomy scan that she had “some kind” of skeletal dysplasia based on her shortened and bowed femurs. We met with MFM at Yale and had an amniocentesis around 22 weeks, which confirmed Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
OI, otherwise known as Brittle Bone Disease, is a rare genetic condition that affects collagen formation in the body leading to brittle curved bones, and some other complications.
