Thank you for checking in to my caring bridge.

I was diagnosed with triple negative stage 2 breast cancer on December 20th, 2021. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma is the most common form of breast cancer, but triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma is more rare. But it is treatable and curable. I completed 16 rounds of chemo over the course of 6 months in 2022, alongside an immunotherapy called Keytruda. I will continue immunotherapy every three weeks through December, 2022. I had a double mastectomy on July 28th, 2022. My pathology after surgery showed I had a great response to chemo, but there was still some remaining cancer in one of my tumor sites. Next steps will be continuing immunotherapy, starting radiation and potentially an additional oral chemo pill to help reduce my risk for reoccurrence.

Thank you for caring, supporting us and praying for us along this journey. We are so thankful for you!

For those of you who have been asking about any fundraising campaigns, we haven’t started anything at this point and may or may not need to. But for those seeking it, the best way to support us financially where the full percentage of money gets to us is through Venmo. My account is @mackenzie-matthews.
