Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Here is our story:

On December 2, 2019, a berry aneurysm was found deep inside MacKenzie's brain.  After much discussion within our family, it was decided that she would have a procedure on 12/19 to place a stent in that location of the brain through a femoral artery.  That procedure was aborted when it was found that the location of the aneurysm was deemed to be in a much more complicated position.  A follow-up surgery was scheduled, and on 12/30, MacKenzie had open brain surgery where it was again found that the aneurysm was in an evermore challenging location and the procedure was again only half completed by the surgeon.  MacKenzie was awakened, was told about what could be done to fully clip the aneurysm, and the decision was made to make a third and final attempt to fix the life-threatening aneurysm once and for all.  About halfway through the 3rd open brain surgery, MacKenzie had a  stroke that has left her presently flaccid on her left side.
