Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place as I am in kidney failure and seeking a living kidney donor. I appreciate your prayers, support, and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!
I am a daughter, mother, and wife with PKD (polycystic kidney disease), a genetic disorder that has caused my kidneys to fail. I'm thankful for a two-year drug trial through Mayo Clinic that has given me a little extra time but I am now in need of a kidney transplant. I am on the deceased donor waitlist (with 100,000 others in the USA), but my best option for a successful outcome is to have a transplant from a living donor before needing dialysis. Mayo has accepted me as a transplant candidate and I have the precertification needed to proceed, which leads me to what the kidney community refers to as "The Big Ask."
Would you consider being a kidney donor? While any healthy person can safely donate a kidney, I know it's not for everyone. For one who can, it's a selfless, life saving act. Because I'm enrolled in the paired kidney exchange program, a kidney donated on my behalf doesn't have to be a match for me.
This site is to provide information about living kidney donation, kidney transplants, dialysis, PKD, and my story. It would mean so much if you would take the time to learn something new and consider how you might be able to help. If donating a kidney is not for you, I would appreciate if you would help me to spread the word.
