Many of you have not heard from me for a while. Two years ago we decided to sell the farm and downsize. We moved three times, but found a home in a lovely neighborhood close to 4 of our 5 daughters. The other lives just an hour away. God must have had it all planned out. In January I was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma in my lungs near my heart. It isn’t operable, but manageable with chemo and radiation.
I have a skilled and knowledgeable oncologist and have started treatment at a lovely treatment center. It’s close enough that the girls can take me on their days off and Fred has been a trooper and my personal chauffeur. I have a large, caring, support system: my wonderful unselfish family, church and choir friends, neighbors, former colleagues and friends I’ve made over the years through my career in education.
I don’t have a prognosis, as yet, but my doctor is always positive. As one friend choir friend wrote to me,
"WE’RE SO GOING TO KICK THAT CANCER’S BUTT!"
Another one said, “They don’t know who they’re dealing with! I promised my kids I’d be around for my 80th birthday and plan to keep that promise! --
I welcome all prayers, notes on Caring Bridge and healing thoughts! I’m not shy about being on church prayer lists…..the more, the better. These just make me stronger and even more determined to get well!
