On Wednesday, August 3, 2016, Lyda made a same-day appointment with her primary care physician because she had been experiencing some abdominal pain and discolored urine. He sent her to the emergency room at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for additional tests. After a battery of tests including blood work, ultrasound and CAT scans, the verdict came back around midnight - Lyda has late-stage pancreatic cancer that has metastasized into her liver causing jaundice. The severity of this condition was a complete surprise to Lyda and her family. Lyda was admitted to the hospital until they determined what to do next.
We have been gladdened by the outpouring of love and support from all our friends and family. Thank you all for creating such a wonderful safety net for Lyda!
