Lucy Settle Lucy Settle

A Miracle in the Making

On Thursday, December 5th, Jonathan and Emily took Lucy to the ER for the third time in 5 days. She was unable to sit up on her own, could not move either leg, could not turn her neck at all and she was experiencing excruciating neck pain.

At 10:15 on Thursday night, they were told Lucy had a very large tumor on her spine and would need surgery immediately.

At 7am on Friday, the operating neurosurgeon showed the MRI results of what he called an “aggressive tumor” in her spine that was hemorrhaging and inoperable. He said it was very unique and concerning.

From 5:30am-11am, friends and family prayed over Lucy for FULL AND COMPLETE RESTORATION.

The initial goal of the surgery was to get tissue from the tumor, get a biopsy, and begin radiation immediately that night.

Throughout the day, friends and family filled the waiting room, praying and believing for a miracle.

During the 8 hour surgery, the doctor stepped out twice to say the initial pathology report was good and that they were going to try and remove as much of the tumor as possible! This was very encouraging news!

They ended up removing all of the tumor they could see!! Thank you Jesus!

Overall, the surgeon is extremely happy with the surgery and more optimistic that Lucy will have a chance to walk again.

Precious Lucy is resting and recovering well!

They are waiting for the full pathology report and the latest MRI results and then will know the action steps moving forward.

Please continue to pray for —
*full and complete restoration and healing
*full mobility in her legs and feet
*wisdom and discernment for the neuro-oncology team as they determine the next steps
*peace in the waiting for Emily and Jonathan
*peace and joy for Lucy while in the hospital. She misses her big sisters and is ready to be home

We are so grateful and are filled with praise! We witnessed a MIRACLE!! “Inoperable tumor” turned “operable”. “Most likely aggressive tumor” turned “most likely benign”!

God moved and is still moving in mighty, powerful ways!

We’re here for the victory!
It is all for His glory!

On December 27th, 3 weeks after surgery, Lucy was noticeably losing function in her right hand. An emergency MRI showed that the tumor had completely and aggressively regrown back.

6 weeks of proton radiation to slow the growth of the tumor...
Much prayer and fasting
Worshipping in the battle

March 3rd, 2020 MRI showed that the tumor was completely and MIRACULOUSLY gone. (Dr's words - not ours) :)
We know who the glory goes to - Jesus, our healer.
