I have started this caring bridge as a support and encouragement for Brock, Katie and the boys. I am so honored and humbled to be Lucy's Godmother with my husband, Dustin, her Godfather. I pray that this blog site with regular updates makes you feel a part of the the Perkes journey and more connected to Lucy.
As most of you know Lucy has been diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Basically, half of her heart is not working and will not work for the rest of her life. The initial plan is for Lucy to undergo three open heart surgeries at one week old, 3 months old, and 3 years old. The surgeries are meant to help but the only real solution is a heart transplant. There will probably be a lot of time in the hospital and lots of doctor appointments (Katie is already a champion of prenatal appointments) and assistance needed.
Lucy will be here any day and Katie will be induced on January 14th if Lucy does not make her debut this week, so we are on the count down for sweet Lucy's arrival! #prayforlucyperkes #andherspecialheart
