Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We will be updating this page as frequently as possible.

On Sunday, December 11th, we took Luca to the ER at Missouri Baptist due to labored breathing. After receiving an X-ray that showed a spot on his lungs, we were transferred by ambulance to Children's Hospital. They drew blood, ran a CT scan, and put him on high flow oxygen. Results from the CT came back around 4am. The doctors informed us there was a mass pushing on his left lung, a spot on his lung, and fluid in the left lung and around his heart. From the ER, we were sent to the PICU.

On Monday, Luca had surgery. During surgery, the doctors were able to collect a bone and skin sample, bone marrow, and remove the fluid from his lungs. Everything was sent to pathology. He was a champ! They were unable to place his pic line and will do this in the next few days. Due to the location of the mass and fluid that is causing difficulty to breath, it was too dangerous to give him anesthesia.

We are waiting for pathology results. Initial pathology showed cancer cells in the fluid from his lungs. All results lead the doctors to believe he has Lymphoma. Once we have more results, the doctors can identify the type and treatment plan. We should know something by the end of the day today (12/13/16) Luca is a brave fighter!

The rest of the posts and pictures that follow have been our path over the last few years. Thanks for your support, interest, and prayers. All of it helps and it’s all for our guy.
