Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using this to keep family and friends abreast of Louise's medical situation. Her struggle with multiple myeloma has entered a new phase and we think it is important to keep people aware of what is going on with her health. Our goal is to post weekly updates to let you know how Louise is doing and ways you can be helpful. During the month of January, she was having a lot of intense back spasms and was clearly uncomfortable. At the same, her cancer markers were encouraging and it appeared that the "chemo cocktail' she had been on for a couple of months was working. At the end of January, she developed a severe headache in addition to the back pain and was admitted to Dartmouth Hitchcock on Saturday, February 3rd. After many tests, they have determined that she has fungal meningitis and a compression fracture in her back. Her pain is being managed by antibiotics and medication which are giving her some relief, but creating other side effects. Please limit the phone calls to her and the immediate family as much as possible as we are feeling a bit overwhelmed. It would be great to send her a card at 6 Crowley Terrace. We appreciate your support and words of hope and understanding.
